FIFA, NFF, Middlesbrough celebrate Mikel at 32

The Nigerian Football Federation and English Championship side Middlesbrough have sent birthday wishes to their captain Mikel Obi who clocked 32 today.

Mikel started his career in Nigeria and represented the country in the U17 World Cup in Finland back in 2003, before he shone like a million star at the FIFA U-20 World Cup in 2005.

“Happy birthday to @NGSuperEagles captain, @mikel_john_obi. We wish you the best today and always. Enjoy your day! ,” The NFF tweeted.

Mikel was born on the 22nd of April 1987 in Plateau, Nigeria and went on to make his debut for the Super Eagles in 2005 has made 85 appearances for Nigeria scoring six times.

After trophy winning career at Chelsea ended, The former Lyon Oslo midfielder joined Chinese Super League side Tianjin Teda before moving back to Europe , where he joined MiddlesbroughJanuary 2019.

 

The Championship side also took to their Twitter handle to celebrate him.

 

Middlesbrough wrote: “Happy birthday to @mikel_john_obi! #UTB.”

 

Mikel has captained Boro to victory in the last three matches and he’s expected to lead the team out against Nottingham Forest later today (Monday).
