FIFA president Gianni Infantino has congratulated Enyimba FC for clinching the Nigeria Professional Football League trophy.
Enyimba International FC, who qualified for the championship playoffs last month, waded off competition from Akwa United, Ifeanyi Ubah FC, Lobi Stars, Rangers FC, and Kano Pillars to clinch a record eighth title in Nigeria’s foremost league.
In a letter signed by Gianni Infantino and addressed to the Nigeria Football Federation president Amaju Pinnick, Infantino commended the People’s Elephant for their resilience and hard work all through the season.
“I was delighted to hear that Enyimba International FC have recently been crowned 2019 champions of Nigeria. It gives me great pleasure to congratulate them for their first championship title since 2015 and eight overall.”
“I take this opportunity to thank the Aba Landlords and your federation for helping spread the positive message of football and foster the practice of this beautiful game that unites us all.”
The Usman Abd’Allah-led side alongside Kano Pillars, will represent Nigeria in the CAF Champions League.
