Finidi not impressed with Enyimba’s defending against Nasarawa United

Coach Finidi George watched in frustration as his Enyimba side suffered another defeat in the NPFL on Wednesday.

Enyimba were beaten 2-1 by Nasawara United in the match day 10 encounter played at the Lafia Township Stadium.

Enyimba got their nose in front when Victor Mbaoma gave them the lead after 13 minute of play.

Enyimba, however allowed the host to equalised five minutes later. The defender failed to clear their lines and Tope Oluwole took advantage and slammed home the ball.

With just two minutes into the added time, Enyimba allowed a point to slip away from their reach — as Shammasu Mohammed tapped home easily from close range.

Reflecting on the defeat, Finidi felt the players shot themselves in the foot with wreckless defending and inability to take their chances up front.

“It’s so sad that we had to lose here.”, A frustrated Finidi George said after the game.

“In the first half, we had a better spell, but we didn’t take few of ourchances.

“I think we would have done better, and we should have defended after their equaliser but they had everything working for them thefans were behind them and they were playing at home, so the confidence was there for them.

“Some defensive errors caused us the game. But we have to turn the page as quickly as possible and see how we can bounce back.”

He also heaped praises on Nasawara United for their resilience and tenacity.

“Generally, I must compliment Nasarawa United for coming strongly from behind to win the game, else, we deserved something better  from today’s (Wednesday) game maybe a draw would have been better.”
