Nigeria Super Eagles players were in action after a bumper week of football which included the Champions League quarter-finals was topped off by a thrilling weekend.

Former Flying Eagles triker Taiwo Awoniyi, on loan from Liverpool, was on target for Mouscron in their 2-1 home win against 10-man Kortrijk in Group A of the Belgian Europa League qualifying play-offs on Sunday.

Iwobi, who returned to Arsenal first eleven after starting on the bench against CSKA Moscow in the Europa League last Thursday, was rated eight.

The Nigeria star put up an impressive display as he provided two assists for Arsenal’s second and third goals both scored by Danny Welbeck. He created three clear-cut chances overall.

Super Eagles striker Obafemi Martins has undergone a successful surgery on his ruptured quadriceps tendon in the United Kingdom.

Martins suffered the injury during Shanghai Shenhua’s Asian Champions League game against Kashima Antlers which ended 2-2 in midweek.

Super Eagles midfielder Joel Obi played a starring role in Torino’s 1-0 home win against his former club Inter Milan. and it was Torino’s third straight Serie A win which left them 10th on 45 points., Joel was replaced in the 88th Minute.

(5) Heroic Samuel Kalu

Nigeria striker, Samuel Kalu was the hero as his second-minute goal secured a hard-fought 1-0 win for Gent against visiting Club Brugge in the Belgian Jupiler.
