Flying Eagles step up preparation for AFCON

Nigeria’s U20 MNT, Flying Eagles, continued preparations for the Africa U20 Cup of Nations scheduled for February next year in Egypt, with a warm up game against Paul E Sport Academy.

Bosso’s team trashed the amateur side 5-0 at the practice pitch of the Moshood Abiola national stadium Abuja on Thursday.

Jonas Emmanuel opened the floodgate with a brilliant finish from a left wing cross after 10 minutes.

Ekpeyong Emmanuel doubled the lead in the 37th minute, with a ferocious strike to the roof.

The Flying Eagles went into the break 2-0 ahead of Paul E Sports, who themselves had couple of half chances.

Second half substitute Obiakor Ifesinachi benefitted from Adam Abdulrahman’s pass to score third five minutes after the hour mark.

Obiakor Ifesinachi grabbed his brace in the 71st minute when he latched on to a cross field pass, and fired into the bottom corner.

Gbadamosi Umar completed the rout with ten minutes left on the clock, thanks to an assist from Adam Abdulrahman.

The Flying Eagles will participate in next year’s U20 AFCON championship in Egypt, in a bid to reach the FIFA U20 world cup, Indonesia 2023.

They secured qualification to the tournament as champions of the WAFU Zone B in the qualifying championship earlier this year.
