Striker Victor Osimhen was full of joy after finding the net during Galatasaray’s emphatic 5-1 demolition of Eyüpspor on Sunday evening.

Despite Eyüpspor sitting just four places below Galatasaray on the Turkish Super Lig table, the much-anticipated clash turned into a one-sided affair.

Osimhen and his teammates made light work of their opponents, dominating proceedings on Eyüpspor’s home ground.

Osimhen’s goal on the night was his 31st strike across all competitions for Galatasaray this season.

He has also provided eight assists, underlining his immense influence since his high-profile loan move from Napoli.

With this tally, the former Lille man has now matched his personal best scoring record set during the 2022/2023 campaign, when he led Napoli to their historic Serie A title.

After the game, Osimhen expressed his happiness at contributing to such an important win, emphasizing how crucial the points are in their pursuit of the league crown.

“I’m very happy because we won. Winning this match was very important. We needed more points. I’m very happy to have contributed with one goal and one assist. I’m also happy for Morata,” Osimhen told SPOR.

“These points are very important on the path to the championship. As Galatasaray, we are focused on ourselves and approach each match separately. We will look forward to the next match.”

Spanish forward Álvaro Morata also took a moment to heap praise on Osimhen’s quality and character.

“Osimhen is a great person and one of the best centre-forwards in the world,” Morata said via Sports Digitale.

“I hope we will all celebrate the championship together. This is an incredible country, my family is very happy here, and I want it to continue like this.”

With five league games remaining, Galatasaray sit five points clear at the top of the Turkish Super Lig standings.

Osimhen is currently the leading scorer in the league with 23 goals, three ahead of his closest rival, Krzysztof Piatek, as he eyes both the league title and the Golden Boot.
