Former Italy international Christian Vieri has singled out Ademola Lookman as the most exciting player in Serie A, praising the forward for his fearless attacking style and game-changing ability.
As defending champions Inter Milan prepare to face third-place Atalanta in a crucial Serie A showdown, Lookman’s influence in the Italian top flight continues to grow.
The Nigerian forward has been one of the standout performers this season, delivering dazzling displays that have caught the attention of top European clubs.
The former Italy striker, who had spells at Inter Milan, Juventus, and AC Milan, shared his admiration for the Nigerian winger in an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport (via Football Italia).
Lookman enjoyed a sensational 2023/24 season, and this season he is following up his breakthrough campaign with even greater numbers.
The 27-year-old has already registered 24 goals and six assists in 31 appearances across all competitions, surpassing his previous-best tally.
In the interview, Vieri expressed his admiration for Lookman’s playing style, emphasizing his ability to take on defenders with confidence.
“You watch him and think, ‘Oh, let’s see what he does now.’ There’s no one like him in Serie A: every time he gets the ball, he goes one-on-one, always.
He’s fast and strong; he takes players on, dribbles, and shoots. Left foot or right foot, it doesn’t matter,” Vieri said.
Vieri was also asked about Atalanta coach Gian Piero Gasperini’s claim that Lookman was the team’s worst penalty-taker.

When questioned on how he would have reacted to such a statement, the former Juventus and Inter Milan striker had a confident response.
“He couldn’t have, because it wasn’t true,” Vieri said. “I always say that you should take a penalty if you feel like it. And if a teammate comes over and says, ‘I feel it,’ it’s fair to let him.

“The only ones who miss penalties are those who take them, and if you miss once, so be it.”
With Atalanta sitting just three points behind league leaders Inter Milan and one behind second-placed Napoli, the title race remains incredibly tight.
The outcome of Sunday’s clash between Inter and Atalanta could be pivotal in shaping the remainder of the season.
Meanwhile, Lookman’s stellar performances have attracted interest from top European clubs, with Manchester City, Arsenal, Newcastle United, Juventus, and Paris Saint-Germain all reportedly keen on signing him.
Atalanta has set a €60 million price tag on the reigning African Footballer of the Year, whose contract with the club runs until June 2026.
Despite his current deal, all indications suggest Lookman could be on the move this summer, with several elite clubs eager to secure his signature.
