Fortune Bassey ends Champions League adventure with Plzeň without a goal

Fortune Bassey played a part in Viktoria Plzen’s last UEFA Champions League Group game against Barcelona at the Dosena Arena on Tuesday.

Bassey was a second half substitute, replacing Tomas Chory in the 63rd minute.

Though the game ended in 2-4 defeat for his side, it was a nice moment for Bassey who played five out of the six Group games for Plzeň.

In addition, it was the 24-year-old’s 14th appearance for the Czech Republic giants this season.

Marco Alonso, Pablo Torre and Feran Torres (double) all scored for Barcelona, while Tomáš Chorý scored Plzeň’s only goal of the night before leaving the pitch for Bassey.

Following the defeat, Viktoria Plzeň finished bottom of the Group and out of Europe completely, while Barcelona dropped down to Europa League.
