Everton manager Frank Lampard, confirmed he broke his hand while celebrating Alex Iwobi’s late winner against Newcastle United on Thursday.
Iwobi scored at the death to hand the Toffees hard fought 1-0 win over the in- form Magpies in the Premier League game played at the Goodison Park.
Iwobi fired home the winner from Calvert-Lewin’s lay-off to send the home fans into wild jubilation, including the manager.
“I’ve broken my hand in the celebrations for the goal,” Lampard told Amazon Prime. “It’s a bit sore a bit shaky, but I don’t care.”
He added: “It’s an amazing night and we need those nights. It’s important that we know what got us that win and that’s spirit.
“It was a tough game against a very good team. It wasn’t a night for quality, it was about fight and we showed that.”
“It was a big night for us and nothing is done – we’ve got 11 games to go now – but I think we were waiting for this moment.”
The victory is a massive boost for Everton’s chance of beating the drop this season.
