Galatasaray vice president, İbrahim Hatipoğlu has raised hopes that Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen could remain at the club beyond the current campaign.
Osimhen, who joined the Turkish giants on loan from Napoli last September, has been a sensation in the Super Lig.
The 26-year-old has delivered consistently impressive performances, scoring 29 goals and providing five assists in 33 appearances across all competitions.
Given his form and pedigree, he is expected to attract several high-profile suitors this summer, with top clubs in England, Germany, and Spain reportedly monitoring his situation closely.
A permanent move to Galatasaray had seemed unlikely, but Hatipoğlu believes otherwise.
“There are always rumours about me, of course. But I prefer to live in the moment. I am enjoying myself right now. I am enjoying both the club and my life here,” Osimhen said last week.
In a recent statement, the club’s vice president confirmed Galatasaray’s interest in making Osimhen’s stay permanent.
“Osimhen’s words do not mean that he will leave,” Hatipoğlu said. “He said that Galatasaray will always be in his heart even if he leaves in the worst-case scenario, but he did not say that he would leave. We want him to stay with us.”
While Galatasaray is reportedly willing to meet all financial and sporting conditions to retain him, the reality remains that Osimhen is highly sought.
Whether he stays or not, Osimhen’s impact at Galatasaray has been undeniable, and if he does leave, he’ll be doing so with the admiration of fans.
