Former coach of Nigeria’s U17 national team Manu Garba has warned against putting the national U17 team of Nigeria under pressure following the team’s 1-0 defeat to Baby Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire on Wednesday at the ongoing WAFU U17 cup tournament in Like, Togo.
Garba speaking in a chat with brila.net advised that the team be encouraged and given the necessary support at a time like this rather than criticize them.
He urged the coach to ensure the team is well prepared and conditioned for the next and final group game fixture against Ghana.
“They just need to psyche the players up, and give them confidence too, let them put in everything too to make sure we beat Ghana. All we need is a win even if it is 1-0.
“So whatever happens between Ghana and CIV we will have a chance to progress. And I think the board members that are there need to talk to the team and psyche them up because at this level you don’t need to shout on them. “
