George disappointed after missing out on National team coaching role

Former Nigeria international winger Finidi George has expressed disappointment at missing out on appointment into the age-grade national teams following the announcement of coaches into the teams last week by the Nigeria Football Federation.

George speaking in a chat with brila.net had openly disclosed his interest to take up the Nigeria U17 national team and had hoped to get considered for the job but the Nigeria Football Federation opted for the choice of former Nigeria U23 national team assistant coach Fatai Amoo who will be assisted by Ahmed Lawal, Nnamdi Onuigbo as first and second assistant respectively while Hassan Abdallah will function as a scout with Danlami Kwasau to be the goalkeeper trainer.
George added that his mission if he had gotten the mandate to lead the Nigeria U17 as a coach would have been to groom players who would have been able to grow through the ranks and ultimately into the senior national team. He however wished the Fatai Amoo lead team well in their next endeavour.
