Nigerian forward George Ilenikhena made history, on Thursday night, after scoring for Monaco in their 2-1 Champions League win over Barcelona.

Ilenikhena, who came off the bench in the 59th minute, wasted little time making an impact in the game.

Just 12 minutes after coming on he got the winner for the French side, latching onto a long ball over Barcelona’s defense and fired a powerful shot past Marc-André ter Stegen in the 71st minute.

The goal is Ilenikhena’s first for Monaco since his summer transfer from Royal Antwerp.

The youngster also become Monaco’s youngest-ever scorer in the Champions League at 18 years and 34 days, surpassing the previous record set by Kylian Mbappé, who was 18 years and 63 days when he scored for Monaco in February 2017.

Also, Ilenikhena etched his name into Champions League history as the first player to score against the same team in consecutive games for two different clubs, having netted against Barcelona for Antwerp in December.
