Super Eagles Technical Adviser, Gernot Rohr was impressed with the team’s fighting spirit to snatch a late winner against a dodged Libya side.
Rohr saw his side’s chances of reaching the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations further enhanced with the 3-2 win and South Africa’s draw against Seychelles.
Nigeria climbed to the summit of Group E and the German expressed appreciation of his player’s “character”.
“I congratulate my team for this victory. It was a huge test of our character. We lost a 2 goal lead but fought hard instead of dropping our heads,” Rohr was quoted after the match.
He also insists the quest to Cameroon 2019 isn’t signed, sealed and delivered yet with matches against South Africa’s Bafana Bafana and Seychelles still ahead.
The Coach stressed now team will be underrated and his side will continue to improve.
“We will stay humble because we have not qualified for AFCON yet. We keep fighting.”
