Gernot Rohr is confident of starting AFCON qualifier on a winning note

Nigeria will hope to capitalise on their home ground and coach Gernot Rohr is looking forward to stop the Bafana Bafana of South Africa with his tactics, in the 2019 AFCON qualifier on Saturday evening.

Head Coach of the Super Eagles, Gernot Rohr has revealed that he is aware of the counter attacking style of the South Africa team.

Rohr who hasn’t lost a game since he took over as the boss of Nigerian national football team knows he has a huge task in front of him and will hope to start their campaign with a win.

Despite leading the Eagles to a 3-0 victory over the hawks of Togo in an international friendly, the german manager is showing certainty about the game which is set to take place tomorrow.

Rohr stated that a bright start to the 2019 AFCON qualifiers is enough motivation for Nigeria after missing out of back to back AFCON competition.

“Loosing out on two AFCON is not a good thing and the players know that, and that’s enough motivation already.

“The players are ready to give a good fight when we play South Africa tomorrow, so that we can be in Cameroon come 2019.

“I am sure we will do well to get our 2019 AFCON campaign to a winning start, beginning from the game against South Africa, Rohr said,”.

Although Nigeria has failed to beat South Africa since the 2-2 draw three years ago, thereby, missing out on AFCON 2015, a victory will help Gernot Rohr and his team to be on a fine start in their 2019 AFCON qualifier campaign.
