Juventus have a tough task on Tuesday night to overcome Atletico Madrid deficit after risking their last eight hopes by losing 2-0 in the first leg.

Spanish home team Atletico Madrid shut out Juventus in the UEFA Champions League’s Round of 16 first leg match.

Italian football heavyweights now have a mountain to climb going into the second leg in Turin.

In another first leg match of round 16 games, English powerhouse Manchester City won against Germany’s Schalke 3-2 in Gelsenkirchen.

The away victory boosted Manchester City’s hopes for the next phase, Champions League quarter-finals, but their Argentinian defender Nicolas Otamendi will miss the return match as he was shown a red card. The second leg will be played in Manchester tonight.

In other first-leg matches, Barcelona drew Lyon 0-0 in an away match. Both sides remained unbeaten in this season’s Champions League competition.

Also, Bayern Munich drew Liverpool 0-0 in the first-leg in Munich.

After goalless draws, the sides will meet again on Wednesday evening in the second-leg matches.
