Black Galaxies coach, Bismark Kobi Mensah says Ghana deserved to qualify ahead of Nigeria for the 2023 African Nations Championship.
Ghana on Saturday sealed their place in the next year’s CHAN tournament after edging Nigeria on penalties.
The Black Galaxies won the first leg 2-0 in Cape Coast, but the Nigerians bounced back and took the second leg by same scoreline at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abuja.
The tie ended 2-2 on aggregate and was decided on penalties, which Ghana won 5-4.
Speaking at the post-match conference, Kobi Mensah, who is the assistant coach of the Black Galaxies said, they deserve their win over Nigeria.
“We knew it will be difficult because Nigeria is a very good side. We worked hard throughout the game and we deserved to qualify.
“Though we defended well, football is like that but at last, we were able to qualify,” he said.
Nigeria has now failed to beat Ghana again, after five meetings, with the records stands at two draws and three defeats.
