Super Falcons forward, Gift Monday is set to leave Costa Adeje Tenerife for the Washington Spirit in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) ahead of the league’s transfer deadline.
According to Radio MARCA, the Liga F club has agreed to sell their top scorer after weeks of negotiations.
The Washington Spirit initially triggered her €200,000 release clause, but Tenerife managed to push for a higher transfer fee.
Ultimately, the deal was finalized for around €300,000.
With 10 goals and three assists in 19 league appearances this season, Monday has been a key player for Tenerife.
However, she was left out of the squad in their 0-0 draw against Deportivo La Coruña, confirming her imminent move to the USA’s top flight.
Monday’s Impact in Spain

The 23-year-old Super Falcons forward joined Tenerife from FC Robo Queens and has spent three seasons in Spain.
During her time in Liga F, she won the Player of the Month award, a feat also achieved by fellow Nigerians Rasheedat Ajibade and Edna Imade.
Her move to Washington Spirit presents a new challenge in one of the most competitive women’s leagues in the world.
