Executive committee member of the Nigeria Football Federation Ibrahim Gusau has charged the 2020/2021 Nigeria Women Premier League title winners Rivers Angels to be worthy continental representative after the Port Harcourt-based side edged all comers to win the NWFL Super 6 tournament Sunday in Ijebu Ode.
Gusau speaking in a chat with brila.net stressed that the Super 6 tournament this year is one of great significance because of the reward of representing Nigeria at the inaugural edition of the CAF women’s champions league.
He added that beyond winning the Super 6 title now lies ahead of the responsibility of doing well hence the need for the team to be focussed and concentrate on the task ahead.
“You know CAF is trying to organize the women African Championship which is just like the Champions League in the men’s angle. And this is the first time it is been introduced and that is why we received a message from CAF to present a team that will represent the country. The message I have for them is that they have to be very concentrated so that they can put in their best at the continental level.”
