“He allows me to express myself,” Iwobi credits Lampard for his form

Alex Iwobi has credited his turnaround at Everton to hard work and arrival of manager Frank Lampard.

Iwobi struggled in his early months after arriving Goodison Park from Arsenal in 2019, however he seemed to start earlier in 2022 when Lampard was appointed.

The Nigerian has now become Everton’s most important player under the English Manager, creating goals and winning tackles from the midfield.

Speaking on his turnaround, the Midfielder was very complimentary of his manager.

“I didn’t get off to a great start [at Everton]. I always have the mindset to prove people wrong,” Iwobi said.

“The manager has given me faith to do so, and he allows me to express myself like I do in training, and I have been able to do that in matches to repay the faith.

“Ever since I came through as an [Arsenal] academy player I have always liked to move the ball forward on a half turn. Now I’m taking the full turn and trying to get up the pitch.”

Iwobi has started all Everton’s Premier League games this season, creating two goals in the process.
