Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr has pleaded with the fans to give Odion Ighalo time to settle in the National team again.
Ighalo struggled on his return to the team against Cape Verde in Tuesday’s FIFA World Cup qualifiers at the Teslim Balogun Stadium.
The Al-Shabab forward started the attack along with Victor Osimhen, and it was the Napoli striker who got Nigeria’s only goal in the game.
Speaking to the press, Rohr defended Ighalo’s performance and pleaded with fans to give the 32-year-old striker time to adjust to the team.
“He needs a little time to find the harmony.”
“You need a little patience with Ighalo,” Rohr told reporters after the match
“He’s not been with us for more than one year. He needs a little time to find harmony.
“I think we saw interesting things together with [Victor] Osimhen. And on the side of Ighalo, Osimhen will grow and will learn a lot.
“And I think the chances we had were also coming with the help of Ighalo,”
“So let’s have a little patience. Give us a little time to have the team together and the goals will come again.” He said.
