Heartland edges Kada City in five-goal thriller at Okigwe

It was an absolutely good game of football at Okigwe as Heartland Football Club fought back from a goal down to beat visiting Kada City 3-2 in the match day 6 of Nigeria Professional Football League on Sunday.

Heartland is one of the most impressive teams in the league so far and was looking to continue their good form in front of their home fans but had to dig deep late on in the game to avoid a big upset to the league newcomers.

Samuel Nnoshiri put Heartland FC ahead  in the 20th minute of play after Kada City failed to clear their lines from a corner kick taken by Oguchi whose in swinger was met by Ajoku Ebere but his overhead kick was parried away by Kada City goalkeeper but Nnoshiri was at the right place at the right time to fire the rebound into the back of the net.

Kada City impressively fought back from the set back and were rewarded in just half mark when Sadiq Suleiman equalizes for Kada city and the goal happened to be the first goal Heartland will concede at home this season.

Kada went ahead with few minutes into the end of the first 45 minutes as Iwuala Anayo scored the second for the visitors from a powerful solo run with Heartland’s Julius Ubido and Nnamdi Egbujor completely caught napping.

Heartland started the second half with great intensity as Kada City sat to protect their rare lead but the Naze Millionaires will soon draw level in the 60th minutes after Ajoku Chidiebere forced Idris Papa to score an own goal.

There was still time for Heartland to get the winner with Kada City players guilty of given possession away cheaply as a result of serious pressure from the home side.

Kada City finally bowed to the pressure as Chinonso Okonkwo drives home the third goal for Heartland FC to complete the remarkable turnaround and sent the fans into wild jubilation.

The win moved Heartland to the top of  Group B standings with 12 points, one ahead of FC Ifeayin Ubah who suffered home defeat to Abia Warriors.
