Former Super Eagles captain Austin Okocha was full of praise for Lionel Messi following his performance and goal against Australia.

Messi scored his third goal of the FIFA World Cup in Qatar against Australia in their round of 16 clash at the Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium on Saturday night.

Commenting on the performance, Okocha described the Argentine Captain as a magical player.

“He didn’t stop running, he just curled the ball and that’s typical Messi. He’s done it several times.

“He doesn’t need plenty chances to do what he knows how to do best. He’s that good,” He concluded.

With the goal, Lionel Messi surpasses Diego Maradona (8) in World Cup goals for Argentina.

The Paris Saint German player is one goal behind Gabriel Batistuta who holds the record for the most goal at the World Cup for the Albiceleste.
