Nigeria striker Stephen Odey disclosed that he received numerous offers before settling for Swiss side FC Zurich.
Odey moved to the Swiss Super league Side following his impressive form for Nigeria professional football league side MFM FC in the 2015–16 season.
After just two seasons with FC Zurich, Odey became one of hottest properties in Europe and in June 2019 he joined former champions Genk on a 5-year contract.
While speaking with www.brila.net on his decision to join FC Zurich, despite receiving offers other top teams, Odey said he FC Zurich presented with better opportunities to develop quickly and learn the European game.
“I have other offers but I didn’t twice before I signed for Zurich because it’s a club that will give me the opportunity to showcase myself and develop as well”.
Despite moving away from the Club four years ago, Odey remains the all-time top scorer for MFM in the Nigerian Professional Football League, with 24 goals in 45 league outings.
The 22-year-old added that having the Nigeria professional football league on television at the time made the move to FC Zurich easier as the club officials watched some of his incredible performances.
“In the NPFL then we play a lot of live games and it kind of helped me to get the move to Zurich.
“I scored in almost every live game, we had like eight live games and I scored in about seven, so it also helped me because FC Zurich watched some of the games.”
” My agent then told me about the offers and It was left for me to decide where I want to go.”
“I got to Zurich on transfer deadline day, so I signed and I did the medical.” He told www.brila.net.
