How Sunday Adetunji’s late header sinks Enyimba in Port Harcourt

Rivers United defeated Enyimba of Aba 1-0 in Nigeria professional football league rescheduled match on Sunday.

The match was played at the Adokiye Amiesimaka’s Stadium in Port Harcourt on Sunday.

The Aba Elephants went into the match at the back of their CAF Confederation Cup win over Orlando Pirates of South Africa, while Rivers United hasn’t been active since the league went on break.

The game was closely contested by both teams, but the home side managed to score the decisive winner with five minutes remaining on the clock.

New signing, Sunday Adetunji scored the goal with a sublime header following a great exchange of the passes between Paul and Kazie who later delivered a wicked cross to Enyimba’s box.

The goal was Sunday Adetunji’s first in the league since 2018, he last scored a league goal that came against Plateau United in 2018.

The Pride of Rivers held on for maximum points which were enough to them move up to 4th place on the NPFL table with 32 points from 19 matches.

Meanwhile Rivers United has won all their home games (9) this season, the only side with a 100% home record this season.
