I hope I get my chance to represent Nigeria at AFCON and World Cup – Moffi

FC Lorient of France forward Terem Moffi says he’s delighted to have the opportunity to represent Nigeria at the international level.

The 22-year-old is one of the new faces in the Gernot Rohr squad that featured in the last FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Cape Verde earlier this month.

Moffi was introduced in the second half of the encounter as the Super Eagles of Nigeria came from behind beat to beat the Blue Sharks Of Cape Verde 2-1.

Moffi who was dropped from the Golden Eaglets squad that won the FIFA U17 World Cup in 2005, said he’s surprised to get a chance without coming through the youth system.

“I honestly don’t think I’ve let it settle in yet. It’s quite rapid and to be called up without going through the youth teams doesn’t normally come around,” he pointed out.”

Before his first competitive appearance for the Super Eagles, Moffi featured in two appearances in back-to-back friendlies against Cameroon, and he has now set his sight of representing the country in major tournaments.

“As a Nigerian, you want to play in major competitions like the Africa Cup of Nations and World Cup. I hope I get my chance.” He told BBC Africa.
