I left Enyimba to get playing time – Ezenwa

Super Eagles goalkeeper, Ikechukwu Ezenwa said his decision to leave Nigeria professional football league side Enyimba FC was down to his desire for regular playing time.

Ezenwa endured a torrid time with Enyimba last season as he failed to fight off a stiff competition from Theophilos Afelokhai and Fatai Dauda for the starting spot at the club.

It would be recalled that Super Eagles manager Gernot Rohr said back in November that the Former FC Ifeanyi Ubah goalkeeper has to play regular to improve his confidence.

Ezenwa, 30, however said he has to move on with his career , while insisting he has a great time with the two time African champions.

“I needed to play regularly. Its a very important decision in my career,” Ezenwa started.

“Although I had a good time at Enyimba but as a player you have your decisions to make and I’ve taken the decision to play for Katsina United.”

Ezenwa added that nothing has been signed between him and Katsina United , As he confirmed there is an offer from Europe.

“There is a possibility to play in Europe, its just a (verbal) discussion that I had with them (Katsina United). They’re interested in me playing for them and I said I’m going to play for them.

“A man must have a plan B. As I’m talking to you Ikechukwu Ezenwa is a free agent and I’m looking forward to moving on with my career in Europe, but if I’m to play in the NPFL in 2019, it has to be for Katsina United.

Ikechukwu Ezenwa was part of the Super Eagles squad to 2018 World Cup in Russia but did not task a minute of action due to the emergence of Francis Uzoho.
