Dr Freddie Fu, the Surgeon at the University of Pittsburgh’s Medical Center who was called upon to repair the anterior and posterior cruciate ligaments damage to Zlatan’s knee has given his latest patient a glowing report has expressed complete confidence that the United striker would return to the game and will keep playing for a long time until he decides to call it quit.
I can’t discuss too many details, I don’t want to get in trouble with Manchester United,’ said Fu in the South China Morning Post.
‘But I can tell you he’s in superb shape in all things. Healthy morphology, the quality of the bone and muscle, everything is as good as you can possibly see’
‘He’s one of the top athletes I’ve ever touched, he is in superb shape.’
There had been fears that Ibrahimovic would be forced into retirement, given the nature of the injury and the fact that he is already 35 but Dr. Fu has said the player nor his agent has nothing to fear regarding the knee. Fu agreed with agent Mino Raiola that his knee ligaments are so strong that the doctor wants to look at them again when his career does finally end.
‘Sure, in the future absolutely, when he’s retired,’ said Fu.
‘But he can still play for many years, he’s so healthy, so strong, biologically, bone morphology, everything, is absolutely very healthy.’
Fu, who says he has operated on 20,000 knees in his career, posed with the Swedish striker after the surgery, with Ibrahimovic presenting his surgeon with a signed Manchester United shirt.
The message read: ‘To Freddie Fu! Keep doing your great work and magic! With love and success! Thank you for everything!’.
