Following the fallout from last week’s announcement of election guidelines into Sports Federations for the 25 June polls, United World Wrestling (UWW) Technical Commission member, Daniel Igali, has called for a review that allows “volunteers” vie for office.

Igali, a two-term President of the Nigeria Wrestling Federation, insists the new rules violate international laws.

As part of the provisions of the new guidelines, persons who have held the office of President for two terms , cannot return.

Thus, he has urged the Minister of Sports, Solomon Dalung, to reconsider a specific section of the guideline, because ‘Volunteers carry a mandate based on their volition.’
