Ighalo confident of Eagles victory against South Africa

Odion Ighalo, Says he’s devastated to miss Nigeria’s the all important 2019 AFCON qualifier game against Bafana Bafana of South Africa but believes the team is capable of winning in his absence.

The Nigerian first choice striker is the highest scorer in the Afcon qualifiers with six goals but won’t be available to help his teammates after he suffered a torn hamstring while in a action for Chinese club Changchun Yatai in mid week and he’s expected to be out for five weeks.

 

The former Watford striker revealed the 2-0 home loss the Eaglessuffered in the hands of the the South Africans is still fresh in his memory but he’s sad injury has stopped him from helping his side to avenge the loss.

“I was devastated and sad throughout the night because I have planned for and was waiting for this game,” he said.

 

“We were all very upset that we lost that first game and everybody wants to play the game to make amends, but God knows best,”

 

The player added , he believes his teammates will get the job done and qualify the country for the African biggest football festival in Cameroon next year.

“I can’t travel right now, unfortunately. But I believe in the boys and I know that they will do the job there.”

Galatasary of Turkey striker Henry Onyekuru who was on the standby list has replaced Ighalo.
