Former Man United striker Odion Ighalo has confirmed that the President of the Nigerian Football Federation, Amaju Pinnick, and Super Eagles boss Gernot Rohr have contacted him over possible return to the team.
Ighalo announced his retirement from international football after the success of the 2019 African Cup of Nations, where he won the golden boot and bronze medal.
NFF boss disclosed that he has been in talks with striker over possible return, before Gernot Rohr included him in 30 man provisional list for the upcoming FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Liberia and Cape Verde.
In his reaction, Ighalo who was on target for his Al-Shabab on Thursday, said he has not made his decision.
“They have been in contact with me about the possibility of coming back, Amaju and coach,”
“I don’t know. I have not said yes or no. I haven’t made any decision concerning the national team.” The former ManchesterUnited star told ESPN.
Ighalo scored 16 goals in 35 appearances between 2015 and 2019 for the Eagles.
He has been in good form for his club, scoring nine goals in ten league games.
