Odion Ighalo says Al Hilal will fight to win the FIFA World Club Cup in Morocco later this year.
Al Hilal will represent the Asians at the tournament billed for Morocco in February, with European Champions Real Madrid and South American Champions Flamengo also scheduled to participate.
No Asian team has won the championship, but Ighalo is confident Al Hilal can beat the likes of Flamengo and Real Madrid to title this time.
“Everything is possible in football. Nowadays you can’t predict what’s going to happen. If you work hard and fight hard on the field of play you can do anything,
“Look at Morocco at the World Cup, for instance. Nobody gave them a chance. They got to the semi-final and they almost got to the final,
“I believe Al Hilal can fight and get to the final and win it, because in football it’s possible to do anything when you work hard and believe in yourself“.
The former Manchester United striker made his debut in the tournament last year, scoring in the 6-1 drubbing of Al Jazira as Al Hilal reached the semi-final, before losing to eventual Champions Chelsea.
“This is a very ambitious club. They don’t understand losing. Since I joined, every tournament we go out there to win. The league, the Champions League, the King’s Cup, the Club World Cup.”
“Every game we play is like a final. When you put on the shirt of AlHilal, you always have to win. We want to go for every trophy. It’sexactly the same for this Club World Cup.” He concluded.
Ighalo has eight goals in twelve games for the Saudi Arabian Champions this season.
They’ll be banking on him to help the the deliver the goods when the tournament kick off in Morocco.
