Odion Ighalo says he enjoys carrying the goal-scoring responsibility of his team on his shoulders.
The veteran forward is having another good campaign with Al Hilal in the Saudi Professional League, netting in his last five games consecutively.
Ighalo has scored eight goals in 12 games for The Blue Waves this season, after scoring twelve in thirteen for the Asian Champions on their way to league success last season.
“I’m happy. Strikers enjoy goals. Sometimes the goals don’t come, but I work hard and give my best to contribute,” He told FIFA.
“It’s a team effort. My target is to help the team win, to help the team keep progressing. Sometimes I score goals, sometimes I don’t, but I’m happy as long as we’re winning.
“As a striker though, you want to score goals to boost your confidence. I try to get a goal in every game I play. If not, I try to provide an assist. But ultimately, as long as my teams wins, I’m happy.”
Ighalo won the Saudi League golden boot last season, but he’s one goal behind Al-Nassr’s Brazilian forward Anderson Talisca this term.
He will be aiming to increase his tally when Al-Hilal face Al-Raed in their next league fixture scheduled for Tuesday.
