Ighalo’s new jersey finally revealed by Manchester United

Ighalo’s new jersey has finally been revealed by Manchester following a lot of anticipation from Nigeria and his fans across the world. He has been allocated the number 25, according to reports.

This comes two weeks ahead of the team’s scheduled travel to Stamford Bridge on February 17, where he will don his jersey for the first time.

Ighalo, who has for a long time desired to join his boyhood club expressed his interest to join the club and thanks to his manager, he managed to sign in to the Red Devils.

The 30-year-old will be taking up a striker position for a short duration of 6 months. Albeit short, this will be one of the most highlight stints in his football career. There are no confirmations on his extension yet but we are all eagerly waiting for a positive outcome once his first temporary contract comes to an end.

Ighalo, who will be moving from the Chinese Super League, Shanghai Shenhua, is set to meet his teammates for the first time during the side’s winter break in Marbella.

25 seems to be a lucky number for Nigerians. It was also Nwankwo Kanu’s number, Super Eagle’s all-time legend, given to him by Arsenal in the 1990s. The other 7 numbers that were open for him were 7, 11, 12, 16, 19, 27, 28 and 30.

This was Valencia’s number when playing for the Red Devils before he left for Ecuador last summer. In his reaction, he wished Ighalo all the best while reiterating how important the number was to him via Twitter.

“I always saw the number 25 as an opportunity to work beyond my dreams. It has been my inspiration and became my amulet. I wish you all the success now with this shirt brother!” was Valencia’s message to Ighalo.

Nigerian football superstar who has charmed Nigerians into betting sites in support of international premier leagues is the ninth Manchester United player to wear this lucky number. Other players who have won the number when on Red Devils include the South African’s, Quinton Fortune, the son of Johan Cruyff, the Dutch legend.

It seems Nigerian football fans have every reason to support Manchester United this coming season. And we certainly expect a lot of support for our very own even from the betting sites fanatics as they place their best bet on the team.

Clearly, it’s a win-win for the sports industry in Naija including giant sports betting sites like bet9ja and the rest who benefit hugely from such successes albeit indirectly.
