Ighalo’s Shanghai debut ended in heavy defeat

Super Eagles striker Odion Ighalo was in action for his new Chinese club, Shangai Shenhua as they suffered 4-0 home defeat in the hand of defending Champions Shanghai SIPG on Friday.

Ighalo joined Shanghai Shenhua from relegated Changchun Yatai where he scored 21 goals to finish in the second position on the top scorer chat last season.

Ighalo was handed a starting eleven shirt by Coach Quique Sanchez Flores and was tormenting the back line of visitors,before former Inter Milan striker Freddy Guarin puts SIPG ahead from nowhere on the stroke of half-time.

The second half resumed with Shenhua desperate for an equaliser but it was Wenjun Lue who doubled the lead of SIPG in the 65th minutes.

The Champions added the third through Brazilianinternational and former Chelsea midfielder Oscar Emboabain the 79th minutes shortly after Shenhua‘s Di Gao was redcarded.

Odil Akhemedov completed the rout Shenhua in the 88th minutes with the fourth goal of the game.

Next for Shanghai Shenhua is a game with Hebei CFFC on Sunday.
