Former Nigerian international Odion Ighalo was a second-half substitute in Shanghai Shenhua’s defeat to Shandong Luneng in the Chinese cup game on Friday.
Ighalo who has endured an injury-ravaged season is still off the pace, as he continues to struggle finding his rhythm.
The only goal of the game was scored by former Italy and Southampton striker Graziano Pelle from the penalty spot in the first half.
Shenhua, however, continued to search for an equalizer and Ighalo was introduced in the 54th minutes of the game for Stephan El-sharawy.
However, the 2019 Afcon top scorer failed to hit the target during his time on the pitch and Shenhua was eliminated in the process.
