Igoh Ogbu lifted his first major European league title as Slavia Prague sealed the Czech Republic 1. Liga crown in dominant fashion.
With four games to spare, Slavia Prague were crowned champions after a commanding 5-0 victory over Sigma Olomouc, securing their 22nd league title.
The last few months have been particularly brilliant for Ogbu. Since joining Slavia Prague from Norwegian side Lillestrom in 2023, the 25-year-old centre-back has quickly established himself as a cornerstone of the team’s defence.
Ogbu featured for the full 90 minutes in the decisive win, contributing significantly to a clean sheet.
He impressed with seven clearances, one block, six interceptions, three tackles, a key pass, and winning nine of his 11 duels underlining a dominant performance at the back.
Slavia Prague’s win created a 13-point gap over FC Viktoria Plzen, mathematically sealing the championship and leaving their rivals with no way back.
Last season, Ogbu made 25 league appearances, but Slavia narrowly missed out on the title to Sparta Prague by just two points.

This triumph marks the second trophy of Ogbu’s Slavia Prague career, following their Czech Cup success in 2023.
His growing reputation has also seen him become the most valuable Nigerian right-footed centre-back, with a transfer valuation reportedly around €10 million.
With Slavia Prague guaranteed a spot in the league phase of next season’s UEFA Champions League, Ogbu’s performances have not gone unnoticed.
Several European clubs are already monitoring his situation ahead of the summer transfer window, with a potential move on the cards.
On the international stage, Igoh would hope for a call-up to the Super Eagles squad for the Unity Cup tournament scheduled for May.
His consistent displays did not go unnoticed by new Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle, who handed him a long-awaited national team call-up in March.
