Super Eagles forward Kelechi Iheanacho scored his first goal of the season in Tuesday’s 4-0 Carabao Cup second-round win over English Football League One side, Fleetwood Town.
Christian Fuchs gave the Foxes the deserved lead and in the 39th minute, a header from Vicente Iborra made it 2-0 for Leicester City.
Iheanacho made it 3-0 a minute from the restart before the win was wrapped up by Rachid Ghezzal who curled in a stunning strike in the 71st minute.
Meanwhile, At the Amex stadium, Leon Balogun’s Brighton Hove Albion suffered a second-round exit at home to Southampton in the Carabao Cup.
The Seagulls were dumped out of the competition after substitute Charlie Austin came off the bench to score a late winner for Mark Hughes’s side, which settled a cagey cup tie between the two Premier League clubs.
Both Balogun and Iheanacho have been called up for the Super Eagles squad to face Seychelles in September away in an African Nations Cup qualifier was an unused substitute.
