Iheanacho targets FA Cup Honors after late winner against Brighton

Kelechi Iheanacho says Leicester City winning the FA Cup will be a dream come true.

Iheanacho scored the winner that sent the Foxes to the last eight of the English FA Cup against Brighton and Hove Albion at King Power stadium on Wednesday.

The substitute was positioned perfectly in the six-yard box to head home a Youri Tielemans’ cross, following a quick corner kick, with virtually the last kick of the game.

Speaking to Leicester City’s TV after the game, the Nigeria international said he’s glad to get the winner for his team on freezing, cold night.

“I’m  really happy, everyone is smiling, it’s still cold so everyone wants to get home. I didn’t really know, if I’d be selected, but the manager called and told me to get ready,” the Forward said.

Iheanacho has now scored his 11th FA Cup goal from 17 appearance in the competition, and the former Manchester City youngster said he’s happy to see the latest strike help his team avoid extra time.

“It’s a kind of game that you wanna win because it’s freezing out here and everyone was smiling, saying I saved them from the cold but most important thing is to reach the next round.”

Leicester City have now reached the quarter-finals of the FA Cup in back-to-back seasons for the first time since 1968-69, Iheanacho however insists that it would be a dream to reach the final.

“It would be a dream, most especially for the fans they have been waiting for long, hopefully we can do it this season,” He concluded.
