Iheanacho’s goal drought nearing 12 months

Kelechi Iheanacho is on the verge of an unwanted personal record if he fails to get minutes in Leicester City’s next set of games or hit the back of the net if he did.

The forward missed out of a chance to make his first AFCON appearance when he was dropped by Super Eagles head Coach, Gernot Rohr, from the last edition in Egypt.

He enjoyed a renewed, rich vein of goalscoring form during pre-season with his club, but Leicester City Manager Brendan Rodgers is yet to give the Nigerian game time this season – in all competitions.

If he fails to appear and score in either of City’s next two fixtures, the Nigerian will have gone a whole year without netting a competitive goal. The youngster’s last competitive goal came in September 22, 2018.

Leicester City will face Manchester United (away) and Tottenham Hotspur (home) in their next two fixtures, both Premier League games.
