Iheanacho’s wonder goal is hard to defend, says Palace Boss Hodgson

Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson says he can’t fault his boys for Kelechi Iheanacho’s winner for Leicester City as he believed it was hard to defend.

Roy Hodgson watched from the touchline as Iheanacho single-handedly brought down his boys to earth from winning position at the King Power Stadium on Monday.

The in-form Nigerian capped an inspired performance with the spectacular winner in the 80th minute after creating the equalizer for Timothy Castagne five minutes into the second half.

Iheanacho runs behind Scott Dann and Van Aanholt, checked inside onto his left foot, and unleashed an unstoppable effort into the roof of the net that left Guaita with no chance.

Speaking after the game, Roy Hodgson who saw his side took the lead inside the opening 12 minutes, believed his side could have picked a point, if not for Iheanacho’s moment of magic.

“Leicester scored quickly after the break but after that, we looked as though we were seeing the game through reasonably well. Kelechi Iheanacho’s quick turn and strike is difficult to defend.” He said.

“Objectively I didn’t think it was a bad performance. Had we got a good result I don’t think people would have begrudged us?”

Meanwhile, Kelechi Iheanacho has either scored (12) or assisted (2) in eight of his last nine appearances for Leicester across all competitions.
