Ike Shorunmu backs Golden Eaglets to bounce back against Ghana

Former Super Eagles Goalkeeper, Ike Shorunmu has backed Nigeria to bounce back from the 1 – 0 defeat to Côte d’Ivoire at the ongoing U17 WAFU B championship in Togo.

Fatai Amoo’s side suffered an opening day defeat to their Ivorian counterparts on Wednesday.

Ivory Coast were the better side in the match and should have recorded an emphatic win, but for Destiny Emuwahem, who stood firm in goal for the Eaglets.

The Eaglets must beat Ghana’s Black Starlets on Saturday to stand a chance of qualifying to the next round of the tournament, a result Shorunmu believes is achievable.

“It is not always good for the coach or players to lose the first match of any tournament, it brings more pressure going into the second game.

“Nevertheless, I think the boys can do it, they will learn one or two things from the defeat to the Ivorians which will help against Ghana.

“So, I think it’s important for everyone to support the team and let’s hope they will get the job done on Saturday,” he told brila.net.
