Ike Ugbo has explained reasons for joining former Belgian champions KRC Genk, despite interest from other clubs.
Ike Ugbo was linked with a move to Galatasaray of Turkey and Olympique Lyon of France, but he decided to sign for the Luminus Arena landlords in a deal worth £7m deal from Chelsea.
The 22-year-old enjoyed his debut season in Belgium last season when he scored 16 goals for Cercle Brugge KVS last season.
“At the end of last season I already spoke with the club and they had a clear plan with me,” Ugbo told Sport/Voetbal magazine.
”There was interest from other teams, but I felt that I was here I could get what I need at this point in my career. For me it was all about the plan.” he said.
Ike Ugbo marked his debut for KRC Genk with a late winner against fellow title challengers Anderlecht.
