Ilechukwu confident Plateau United will qualify for Super six

Fidelis Ilechukwu’s Plateau United dropped to fifth position on the NPFL Group A table, following Wednesday’s 3-2 defeat to Shooting Stars of Ibadan.

The Peace Boys led 1-0, before the Oluyole Warriors recovered and put three past their defense.

A late surge from the visitors only yielded a goal, as Shooting Stars held on for a win.

Speaking with the press, Ilechukwu insists the defeat will have no impact on his team’s Super 6 ambition.

“We have a lot of advantage to finish in the top three this season.”

“We believe that we will come here and go home with something but at the end of the day we didn’t. That’s football. Now we are working for the next game.

At the moment, the Peace Boys are two points adrift Akwa United who occupies the final playoff spot in Group A.

“With Remo win in Maiduguri, it’s going to be a very tough one for us to make the top three for Super 6 but in football anything can happen.

The former MFM boss also warned his players against further errors as the season reached crucial stage.

“We have to look at what we have to do in terms of our defense line and goalkeeping. The errors are too much in this game but we really need to work hard to be in top three after this game.”

Bendel Insurance are topping the table with 25 points, five more than second placed Remo Stars with 20 points.

Akwa United, Enyimba International and Plateau United are 3rd, 4th and 5th on the log with 19, 18 and points respectively.
