Embattled AFN President Ibrahim Gusau has stated that the activities of the illegal Athletics Federation of Nigeria may get Nigerian Athletics into trouble because the Confederation of African Athletics recognize him as the President of the Athletics Federation in Nigeria and that alone validates his mandate.
Gusau speaking in a chat with www.brila.net said the Africa Athletics Governing body is aware of the ongoing crisis in Nigeria already and may not bid well for Nigeria if this is not stopped now.
“The African governing body and the world governing body recognizes me as the President and they are aware of what is happening in Nigeria, so at the right time they will make a comment.
And naturally, I am the one soft-pedaling because I don’t want a harsher penalty to fall on Nigeria because you we are going for the Olympics and I really won’t want a bad penalty on Nigeria.”
