I’m getting back to 100 percent — Onuachu

Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu says he careless about the latest criticism from the media, following his poor start to the campaign.

Onuachu endured a rough start to the season, no thanks to an hamstring injury he suffered during pre-season.

The striker recovered late and as a result, some sections of the media questioned his commitment to Wouter Vrancken’s side.

In an interview with HLN, Onuachu said, he’s not bothered by the criticisms, and only focusing on getting back to top form.

“I gave everything for the team (vs OH Leuven). In the end I was finished, but we have a lot of good players who could come in. I am gradually getting back to almost 100 percent.

“I just want to play, have fun and meet up with the coach’s expectations. I enjoy his confidence.”

“As a footballer you have to be able to live with people talking about you. I don’t care. I don’t really follow the media,” Onuachu stated.

Since returning from injury, the striker has netted four times in the four games, including a brace against Kortrijk and winner Oostende and Oud-Heverlee Leuven.

“It’s simple: I was injured at the beginning of the season and had to be fit again. It was tough for a while, but I’m a professional,” He concluded.
