Ineffective Iwobi hauled off as Everton stuttered at Spurs

Super Eagles forward Alex Iwobi featured for Everton in their premier league defeat to Tottenham Hotspurs on Monday.

The former Arsenal attacker who started his third game for the Toffees since the restart of the league was deployed on the right-wing by Everton’s coach Carlo Ancelotti.

However, Everton were poor going forward and barely threatened Tottenham’s goal with Iwobi and other attackers the guilty parties.

The Nigerian international only lasted for 46th minutes on the pitch but failed to create any scoring chance for his team before being replaced by Gordon.

Iwobi was simply not effective on right-wing at the Tottenham Hotspurs’ stadium and after such performance, the question will continue to pop up about his best position in the midfield.

Meanwhile, an own goal from Michael Keane on 24 minutes settled the highly contested game saw Everton continued their terrible run of results against London opponents.

Everton has lost half of their Premier League games in London (78 out of 156), with only Newcastle (79) losing more in the English capital.

The defeat left Everton in the 11th position on the log with 44 points.
