Innocent Bonke talks tough ahead of battle against the Black Stars

Innocent Bonke is confident the Super Eagles will cope with the absence of Willfred Ndidi when they face Black Stars on Friday.

Ndidi damaged his knee medial ligament while playing for Leicester City against Rennes in the Europa league and subsequently ruled out of the clash.

The former Genk man was then replaced by Innocent Bonke who is making a return to the team since November 2021.

In a chat with www.brila.net, Bonke explained what the invitation and a chance to play in one of the biggest derby in history of African football means to him.

“Yes, it was a late call up, and I have to honor. So I’m happy to be here with the team.”

“It’s a very crucial and special game for both countries and we as a nation knows what we want and Nigeria too, so we are going to give our best to come victorious.” He told www.brila.net.

On the injury to Ndidi, Bonke who plays for Lorient FC in the French Ligue one, said the team will miss him, but insists they’re capable of winning without him.

“We the players always thinking about the team and results. Yes , Ndidi is missing but we will do our best to get the best result from the game” he said.

The first leg of the FIFA World Cup qualification playoff will be played in Kumasi on Friday, while the second leg will hold in Abuja on Tuesday.
