Three Nigerians players were involved in the ‘Friuli-Venezia-Giulia Derby’, between Venezia and Udinese on Sunday.
Isaac Success featured for Udinese, while Tyrone Ebuehi and David Okereke also represented Venezia.
The game was a relegation tussle for the players and it was Success who came out on top as Udinese edged the hosts 1-2 and depart with the three points.
Tyrone Ebuehi started the game, but was substituted in the second half, while Success and Okereke saw action in the second half.
However, Success and Okereke didn’t score in the game, but they made a very good impression.
Udinese strikes first in the 39th minutes, Michael Cuisance brought down Gerrard Deulofeu after a corner and the Spaniard converted the penalty himself sending Niki Maenpaa the wrong way to drill into the bottom corner.
Venezia equalised in the closing stages of the first half when a long Ethan Ampadu throw-in was knocked down into the path of Henry to volley into the roof of the net from seven yards.
Udinese stole it at the death with a Rodrigo Becao header from a Samardzic corner in the 94th minutes.
The win moved Udinese closer to safety as they now occupy 12th place on the log, while Venezia remain 18th — three points off the drop zone.
