President of the Nigeria Table Tennis Federation Engr Tikon Ishaku has stated that the postponement of the ITTF Nigeria Open scheduled for between August 18 and 22 this year has become necessary in view of the uncertainties surrounding the possibility of hosting such tournament owing to the Corona Virus Pandemic.
Ishaku speaking in a chat with www.brila.net said the Federation find it difficult a decision to take but must embrace this in the overall interest of all that is connected to the tournament.
He added that it was a program that is big in the schedule of the NTTF but with the current situation if things, a cancellation is necessary at the moment.
“As it is all over the world, we have programs lined up from January to December 2020 but we see what the pandemic has caused. We have to accept it the way it is because it is not man-made.
“And even if it is man-made, it has happened and the whole world has no solution to it. So we just have to embrace it and we look forward to a perfect excellent way of coming out of it.
“The hope is still there, we have hope that table tennis will continue going on as it has been before.”
